MARTIN REV

NYC's Martin Rev is a one of music's most influential and creative personalities. His mainstream profile has remained somewhat opaque due to his focus on creativity and art as opposed to commercial viability. Nevertheless, as the lone instrumentalist in the legendary duo Suicide, his pulsing hissing keyboards continue to challenge and inspire generations of underground music fans. Countless artists have cited Suicide as an influence including The Jesus and the Mary Chain, Joy Division, New Order, Nick Cave, Radiohead, Spacemen 3, Ric Ocasek, R.E.M. and Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen's "State Trooper" from his Nebraska album is clearly influenced by Suicide. Springsteen also performed a solo keyboard version of Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream" to end the concerts on his 2005 "Devils and Dust" tour. Suicide's recordings are considered to be some of the most influential alternative music recordings of all-time. Suicide (1977), is particularly heralded, often regarded as a classic. Suicide continues to play live throughout the world, performing at among others, the South Street Seaport Festival in lower Manhattan in August of 2007, the London Forum with Nick Cave on his debut of his new group Grinderman, and Agnes B's fashion week 30th anniversary celebration at the Olympia Theatre in Paris, featuring groups including Sonic Youth and Patti Smith.

On the 16th October, we at Trouble Vision celebrated not only our first birthday, but also our biggest party to date. Shy FX, Plastician and Boy-8 Bit headlined an all-star lineup spanning the genres while Work It! brought the heat in the Silent Disco.

One month on and we’re back to do it all over again with arguably an even bigger lineup. Drum & Bass legend and general bass connoisseur DJ Zinc tops the proceedings in room 1. In support, Dirtybird’s Solo will be bringing his bag of carnival house followed by a debut live performance from Bass Clef & The Magic Drum Orchestra, (8 live percussionists backing up Bass Clefs tight 2-step/dub productions promises to be nothing short of spectacular,) with remix-maestros Greenmoney providing the icing on the cake.

Room 2 takes on a more garage, dub and UK funky persona, with Geeneus, the first man of Rinse FM and FWD>> taking to the controls to headline. Support comes in the form of a back to back special. Mad Decent’s Mumdance will be taking on Dirty Canvas’s tastemaker Reecha, UK garage originator El-B will be going back to back with new kid Photomachine, and last but by no means least, man of the moment Joy Orbison will be taking on the mysterious SBTRKT.

Throw Superfilth’s electro peddlers Oli DAB & Robin into the silent disco along with The Wolf and co. and you have the makings of what is becoming an essential London party, and, if you quick, early bird tickets start at £5!

When cosmic disco wizard Prins Thomas announced his new bi-monthly residency at Corsica Studios, we were hoping that at some point he would convince frequent studio partner Lindstrøm to join him on the Air Norway Express.

Still we didn’t expect it to be this soon, but here we are with Ekstravaganza #2 and Thomas has put together an early Christmas present for London’s ever growing disco community in the shape of one of the best line-ups you’re likely to see all year.

Playing together for the first time in London for several years Thomas will be joined by the aforementioned Hans-Peter Lindstrøm who will be performing an absolutely unmissable live set. One of the most pivotal figures in recent dance history, Lindstrøm has been at the forefront of the recent cosmic disco renaissance with tracks such as I Feel Space and the astonishing 30 minute long Where You Go I Go Too, taking the dancefloor to new heights of blissfull abandon. We can barely contain ourselves at what delights he holds in store for us.

Completing the Scandi-Disco connection is long time Full Pupp producer and resident DJ for the label’s Oslo nights, Magnus International. Alongside Thomas he will be digging deep into his collection to bring the finest music from the frozen north.

If the main room is soundtracked by the more ethereal excesses of disco, room 2 will represent the genres more earthly delights. Joining the dots between the bath house and the warehouse and channelling the spirit of disco’s decadent pioneers will be the all conquering Horse Meat Disco, Black Cock’s Gerry Rooney and the evergreen Warm Residents. Do not be mistaken - this will be a sweaty, unadulterated bearpit of fun.
